Right Angles!

~~Right Angles~~
tile floors and lockers
The tiles represent right angles because there are actually right angles in the squares that the tile consists of. In the squares (tiles), two perpendicular lines meet up to make a 90 degree angle (right angle)
The lockers represent right angles because they have so many right angles in them, and they get the right angles by having two perpendicular lines meet up to make a 90 degree angle. There are right angles on the doors and corners.

Rotational Symmetry!

~~Rotational Symmetry~~
pinwheel

A pinwheel represents rotational symmetry because one piece is rotated a number of degrees, copied down, rotated the same number of degrees, copied down next to the other, and so on, until you reach the starting point again.

Trapezoid!

~~Trapezoid~~
swingset

A swingset is like a trapezoid because there are two parallel lines (one shorter than the other) connected by two slanting lines tilted toward each other. Also, there are two acute angles at the intersection of the bigger line and the slanted lines, and two obtuse angles at the inersection of the smaller line and the slanted lines.

Line Symmetry!

~~Line Symmetry~~
The Brooklyn Bridge in New York City
The Brooklyn Bridge in New York City represents line symmetry because it is a figure you can draw a line down the middle of, and have two identical sides.

Intro Paragraph

This blog is aimed at teens and older children that like to surf the Internet. They would be interested because it shows how math can be applied to real life. Also, it has pictures and minimal text. It benefits the readers because they will learn how to apply math concepts to their lives. We think that this is quality work because we took our time to find good example and definitions of the items.

Radius

A fan blade is like a radius because it goes from the center of a circle the edge of the circle.

Prism

a bunch of drawer is a like a bunch of prisms because a polyhedron with two congruent and parallel faces and whose lateral faces are parallelograms

Hemisphere

a hemisphere is like the middle of a grapefruit
because its half of the terrestrial globe

Reflection

A reflection is when an image is flipped, like shoes in a mirror.

Parallel Lines

Parallel Lines are like my wall because they always stay the same distance apart and never meet.

Cones

the lid of a lava lamp is like a cone because is a shape whose base is a circle and whose sides taper up to a point

(well almost a complete point)

Circles

A CD is like a circle because it has a circumference.

Rectangles

A poster is like a rectangle because it has four right angles and two pairs of parallel angles.

Cylinders

A can of food is like a cylinder because a cylinder has two circular bases that are parallel to each other connected by a straight line, and so do cans of food.

Congruent!

Congruent Figures!!

~electric scooters~
These electric scooters are like congruent figures because congruent figures look the same, and are the same size, while the scooters look the same, and are the same size.

Welcome!

Welcome to geometrythroughmyeyeballs.blogspot.com! You will find real life examples of geometric terms, and analogies to understand even further!
Have fun!!

Sphere

a glass ornament is like a sphere because its a a three-dimensional closed surface such that every point on the surface is equidistant from the center
